A house in the Michigan woods designed for time together — big kitchen, long table, a fire pit at dusk.
This isn't a hotel and it isn't trying to be. It's a house — with a big kitchen made for cooking together, a long dining table that fits everyone, and enough bedrooms that nobody has to share unless they want to.
The house sits on the Camp Madron grounds in the middle of the Michigan woods, set back from the lake but close enough to hear it. Red board-and-batten outside. Floor-to-ceiling glass everywhere inside.
Cooking
The kitchen was designed to hold a crowd. Gas range, a generous island with bar seating, and counter space enough for three people working at once. Stock it, cook something you wouldn't bother making at home, and eat it at the big table with the windows open.
Gathering
The main room connects kitchen, dining, and living. There's a spot for board games, a couch long enough for everyone, and a fire pit on the patio for when the evening cools. The screened dining porch seats the whole group.
Sleeping
(Sleeps — details to come.) Every bedroom has windows into the trees. Wake up to birdsong and light filtering through the canopy.
The grounds
A short walk through the trees brings you to the lake. The Camp Madron property is forested and private. In spring the leaves arrive fast; in fall they take their time going.
